Making Uniquely Creative Tables To Use Or Sell

If you are a little creative, you can make a table out of just about anything. Unique, handmade furnishings not only look great in your home and on your patio but can make you some quick cash when you need it. People are always looking for something new; something different than all of their friends has. If you create unique, well-made pieces, you'll be able to sell them for a nice profit. Here, you'll find a few ideas of what you can use to create tables that are not found in your local furniture store.

Table Bases

The base, or legs, of the table can make a significant impact on the look. You can choose to use standard straight-legs made of clean lumber, or you can let yourself get a little crazy and come up with new ideas.

Take a look around. What do you see? That firewood sitting beside your fireplace – that could be the base of a table. You can use four equal sized logs as legs, or you can use one large log as a single base. A little cutting, sanding and sealing and all you need is a table-top to put on it.

You can use just about anything that is sturdy to make the base – even your kids' Legos can be used. Think about the room that you want to use the table in and go from there. If you are looking for a fun space, include lots of color. If you are looking for a serene space to relax in, choose neutral and light tones. Once you know the colors, you will more easily be able to find the materials for the base.

Table Tops

One of the easiest ways to finish a table top is to purchase glass tops. Glass tops are ideal because they are available in various sizes, shapes, and colors. Once you know the dimensions of the table, you can quickly hit the web and search for the glass top that will fit the table as you'd like.

Don't worry too much if you have kids. The glass tops are more durable than you might think. Of course, you won't want your kids smashing their die-cast cars onto the table, but it will withstand the normal abuse that a family can put it through.

Allow your creativity to flourish. Start looking around to come up with fun and unique ideas for making tables for you to keep or even to sell.
